Donating Blood During Covid-19

As the pandemic continues, we highly suggest that you stay home, if possible. However, if you are following pandemic best practices and are feeling healthy, we encourage you to look into donation blood. With the fear of COVID-19, the number of blood donations has decreased. Minnesota hospitals are always in need of vital blood and plasma for patients. If you are following pandemic best practices and are feeling healthy, we encourage you to look into donating blood.

Is it safe?

Memorial and the American Red Cross are taking every precaution to ensure your safety. They are asking for donations from only healthy people who meet their eligibility guidelines. At Memorial Blood Center, they are taking temperatures of everyone who enters the building. All attendants and volunteers are required to wear a mask. They have extended hours and limited staff to give more space between donations. To learn more about their safety efforts, visit mbc.org

Learn about your blood type
