What is a STEMI Heart Attack?
A STEMI (ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction) heart attack occurs when a coronary artery is completely blocked, cutting off oxygen-rich blood to the heart. Every second counts in a STEMI heart attack. Anyone experiencing symptoms must call 911 right away.
What Are Common Symptoms?
A person experiencing a STEMI heart attack may experience the following symptoms:
- Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
- Nausea or lightheadedness
- Difficulty breathing
- Excessive sweating
If someone has these symptoms, they require immediate medical attention.
