Fairview Range is seeking a graduating Radiologic Technologist student to join our Diagnostic Imaging team in the Hibbing, Mt. Iron, and Nashwauk (Minnesota) locations. With imaging services at Fairview Range Medical Center and the Fairview Mesaba clinics, we serve patients in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. We provide a vast array of imaging services including x-ray, CT, MRI, mammography, fluoroscopy, and pain management, as well as ultrasound and nuclear medicine.

The selected student upon completing board certification would train into a CT/Imaging Technologist role. The fully trained candidate will perform quality imaging procedures by applying ionizing radiation for an accurate diagnosis, and is responsible for patient flow, supplies, equipment management, and QC testing. This position provides quality patient care and customer service. The CT/Imaging Technologist assumes responsibility for the Diagnostic Imaging Department when functioning as a sole technologist, and independently performs procedures in assigned specialty areas with on-call responsibilities, where applicable. This position is full-time, 72-80 hours per two weeks. Final schedules may include 8, 10, or 12-hour Day/Evening/Night shifts and participation in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Perform quality Diagnostic Imaging procedures with accuracy and competency and Standard of Patient Care.
  • Operates equipment using proper technical factors while providing radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Assures care for the physical and psychological needs of the patient while maintaining proper positioning and transferring techniques.
  • Maintains departmental efficiency.
  • Collaborates as a team.
  • Train to perform exams and assist in procedures in CT and X-Ray in the hospital and clinics.
  • Perform quality CT examinations with accuracy and competency.
  • Operates equipment using proper technical factors while providing radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Cooperates and collaborates well with other departments including all imaging departments and other areas.
  • Assist Radiologist in procedures.
  • Ensures the procedure is explained to the patient prior to the exam.
  • Provide the radiologist with the necessary documentation and history needed for an accurate diagnosis for all specialty area procedures.
  • Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by completing quality assurance requirements within scope.


Qualifications

  • Must be currently registered with the ARRT.

Vaccination Update

Current employees must have completed both vaccination schedules on or before October 31, 2021. Beginning August 9, 2021, any new hires who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to receive their first dose prior to their start date and their second dose (if receiving Moderna or Pfizer vaccines) within 4 weeks of their start date. Annual flu vaccinations are also required before the employment start date for employees who begin employment during the flu season. Accommodation requests will be reviewed on an individual basis.

About this unit:

  • 4 ultrasound exam rooms, including 1 room equipped for echos
  • Top-of-the-line equipment including GE LOGIQ E10 machines with a wide variety of transducers, Trophon 2, and ergonomic ultrasound chairs.
  • Wide variety of scans and procedures performed, including abdomen, small parts, breast, vascular, ABI’s, and OB/GYN level IIs in partnership with Maternal Fetal Medicine at M Health Fairview.
  • Average of 20-35 patients per day, including scheduled, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings performed via portable scanner.
  • American College of Radiology Ultrasound accreditation.
  • Multidisciplinary team including sonographers, echocardiographer, radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, RNs, Radiologists, and medical imaging assistants.
  • Patient population served: all


Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Ensure quality diagnostic sonograms, echocardiograms, and vascular studies.
  • Ensure daily organization and progression of procedures and patient flow through the Ultrasound Department.
  • Evaluates sonograms properly and provides Radiologist with patient histories and pertinent information as needed.
  • Explains procedure to patient prior to the exam performed.
  • Schedules and coordinates exams which involve other departments in an efficient manner.
  • Maintains proper patient records with necessary documentation.


Qualifications

  • Registered or registry eligible Ultrasound ARDMS or ARRT required.
  • General ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Willingness to learn a wide variety of ultrasound procedures that exist in the rural healthcare setting.

The selected student, upon completing board certification, would train into a Nuc Med role. The fully trained candidate will perform quality imaging procedures for an accurate diagnosis, and is responsible for patient flow, supplies, equipment management, and QC testing. This position provides quality patient care and customer service. There are opportunities for the selected person to train into the CT modality as well. This position is full time, 72-80 hours per two weeks. Final schedules may include 8, 10, or 12-hour Day/Evening shifts and participation in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Ensure the daily organization and progression of procedures and patient flow through the Nuclear Medicine Department is maintained.
  • Perform quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans with accuracy and competency.
  • Ensure the proper isotopes and supplies have been obtained in order to complete the exam.
  • Maintain proper patient records with necessary documentation.
  • Ensures that all QC and QA testing is completed accurately and timely.
  • Works effectively with radiologists and team members to promote safety and consistency.

  • Registered CNMT/NMTCB or ARRT(N)
