Fairview Mesaba Clinics to offer flu shot clinics in October; Encourages getting up-to-date on vaccines

Vaccines are as important as ever – and not just COVID-19 vaccines. For over a century, vaccines against the flu, polio, and smallpox have helped us lessen and eradicate severe illnesses and diseases. Our expert medical team at Fairview Range highly recommends you get your child’s latest recommended vaccines.

Schedule an Annual Visit
Your child and you can get any recommended vaccines at a yearly physical. Annual visits are a great way to check-in on your health, ask lingering questions, and live your healthiest life. Your primary care physician can look over your records and let you know what vaccines you should have. Well-child visits will also help you know which ones your children should be getting.

Want to know more about well-child visits, check out these videos from Wilderness Health, a local healthcare collaborative that we are a part of.

Vaccines Numbers Down
According to the World Health Organization, “In 2021, the number of completely unvaccinated children increased by 5 million since 2019.”

This is not a healthy trend for our communities. Vaccines make a big difference on the individual level and on the health of our area. The higher the vaccine numbers, the larger the herd immunity. This means fewer people getting sick, and fewer health resources being tapped. When your healthcare system can concentrate on preventative care versus reactive care, we build a stronger, healthier community.

If you’re curious about what vaccines your child should receive, check out this guide from the Minnesota Department of Health.

Back to School
Another big reason to get your kid in for a well-child visit is school. To participate in sports, activities, and even to enter the classroom, kids and teens need to have certain vaccines. Not only does it allow them to fully participate, it also keeps them protected against viruses that go around. Make sure it’s a healthy school year by checking a check-up off your to-do list.

Upcoming Family Flu Shot Clinic
Flu season is right around the corner and we know how busy life can get, especially now that school has started. That’s why we’re excited to be holding a family flu clinic on Saturday, October 8th from 9am to 1pm at Fairview Mesaba Clinic in Hibbing. This is a great opportunity to have the whole family get their shots all at the same time.  This weekend flu shot clinic also means there is no trying to schedule around school and practices.

Appointments are required. You can book an appointment by calling 218-362-6937.

Please remember to wear a short-sleeved shirt and bring your insurance information. All attendants must wear a medical mask, regardless of vaccination status. If you do not have a mask or are wearing a cloth mask, a medical mask will be provided to you.

There will also be more flu shot days across our three clinics throughout October.
