The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced its results for the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating in 2020. Each year, CMS evaluates more than 4,000 hospitals nationwide and assigns them one to five stars, with five being the highest possible rating. We are proud to announce that Fairview Range has achieved a five-star rating, placing us in the top 11 percent of hospitals in the country!
“Fairview Range is one of only 11 medical centers in Minnesota carrying a five-star rating. We are so proud to be recognized as one of the leading health systems in the region, and the nation,” says Patrick Sharp, President and CEO of Fairview Range. “It is a public recognition of our organization’s continued commitment to provide the highest level of care for our community.”
The CMS rating system is based on 57 publicly reported quality measures across performance areas, such as patient experience, safety of care, readmission and effectiveness of care. This information helps patients compare hospitals online through CMS Hospital Compare.
“Thanks to the commendable work each and every day by our staff, we went from a four- to a five-star rating in overall quality in one year,” says Angela Olson, Director of Quality & Performance Improvement at Fairview Range. “I feel honored to have the opportunity to work for a healthcare facility with such a strong focus on our patients experience, quality, and safety.”
“The CMS five-star rating recognizes the phenomenal care provided at Fairview Range,” says Dr. Pete Olsen, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Fairview Range. “This achievement is the culmination of the impressive collaboration and teamwork with every Fairview Range employee including providers, nursing staff, support services, and the leadership team.”
