Fairview Range Receives “A” Grade for Hospital Safety from The Leapfrog Group

In recognition of its commitment to patient safety and quality, Fairview Range earned an A grade from The Leapfrog Group, the highest rating awarded by the independent nonprofit that sets national standards for hospital safety. The grade reflects the organization’s strong performance in preventing medical errors, accidents, injuries, and infections. Fairview Range is one of only six hospitals in Minnesota to receive an A rating for Spring 2026.

“Earning an ‘A’ Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade reflects the dedication of every member of our team,” says Miki O’Rourke, RN, Regional Director of Quality at Fairview Range and Fairview Grand Itasca. “This recognition is a testament to our shared commitment to patient safety, high-quality care, and the everyday actions that ensure our patients receive the safest experience possible.”

Leapfrog evaluates hospitals twice each year to help patients make informed decisions about where to receive care. Fairview Range received the “A” Grade in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. Grades are based on up to 30 performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and additional safety data that hospitals voluntarily report, including metrics on falls, length of stay, staffing levels, safe medication administration, and nursing engagement and leadership.
