Patients and others are required to wear a medical mask while inside Fairview Range facilities

All people entering our hospital, clinics, or other locations are required to wear a medical mask at all times while inside our facilities. This includes – but is not limited to – patients, visitors, couriers, vendors, providers, and employees. Wearing a mask helps protect you, our patients, and our staff from COVID-19.

If you do not already have one, you will be provided with a disposable medical mask to wear. Anyone wearing a cloth mask, gaiter, bandana, or mask with an exhalation valve will be given a new medical mask to wear over or replace their current mask.

Why are masks required?

Wearing a mask is an effective way to prevent disease transmission. It’s important for patients and staff to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 by wearing a mask. For that reason, masks are required at all times for everyone entering our facilities, with exceptions for children under age 2, those with health conditions who cannot wear masks, and those needing emergency care.

Medical masks are more effective than cloth masks at preventing the spread of COVID-19.

What type of mask is allowed?

Disposable masks (also referred to as surgical masks), N95, and KN95 masks that cover your nose and mouth are acceptable. Learn more about these masks and how to wear them. If you do not have this type of mask, one will be provided to you when you enter our facility.

Cloth masks, gaiters, bandanas, or any other piece of clothing used to cover your nose and mouth are not allowed. Masks with exhalation valves are also not permitted. If you arrive with one of these masks, we will provide you with a disposable medical mask to wear.

Will I be refused care if I don’t wear a mask?

Unless it is an emergency, you will need to reschedule your visit if you are not willing to wear an appropriate mask. If you are not willing or are not able to wear a mask and do not need emergency care, we suggest arranging for virtual care. This is to protect you, other patients, and staff.

If I don’t have access to a mask, will you provide one when I arrive for my appointment?

Yes. We will provide disposable medical masks to anyone visiting our facilities. If possible, please come to your appointment with your own medical mask.

If I receive a mask to use at one of your locations, where do I return it?

We will provide a disposable medical mask. You do not need to return it. The CDC recommends discarding disposable masks after one use.

Is it safe for me to come to my appointment?

Yes, we are taking every precaution necessary to protect patients and staff, including required masking and social distancing practices. Have questions about COVID-19? Please visit our COVID-19 online hub
