Welcoming a new life into the world is a deeply personal and transformative experience; at Fairview Range, we’re committed to making this journey unique and supportive.
From the moment you arrive, until you leave with your little one, our dedicated team is here to ensure your labor, delivery, and postpartum care meet your expectations and needs.
A Personalized Birth Experience
Each patient’s labor and birth experience is unique to them and their family. When you’re admitted for labor, our team will review your birth plan and listen to your expectations for your birth experience. Whether you’re looking for a low-intervention birth, seeking pain management options, or preparing for a C-section, we’re here to support your choices every step of the way.
Our staff will guide you through the entire process, from active labor to postpartum care, ensuring you’re well-informed and comfortable. We provide extensive education throughout your stay, including educational booklets, videos, and one-on-one discussions with your doctor and nurse. For those planning to breastfeed, we offer lactation education and support, giving you the tools and knowledge needed to make informed decisions about your care.
Your Birthing Options At Fairview Range
Fairview Range offers a variety of birthing options tailored to your needs and preferences:
- Low-Intervention Birth: For those seeking a natural birth experience, we offer intermittent auscultation, freedom of movement, and the ability to give birth in the position that feels most comfortable for you.
- Epidural Birth: If you choose to have an epidural, you can still move into positions that are comfortable within the limits allowed by the epidural, ensuring you have the best experience possible.
- Pain Management: We provide various pain control options to support your comfort during labor.
- Inductions: Both elective and medically necessary inductions are available based on your needs.
- Cesarean Sections: Our skilled team is prepared to ensure a safe and smooth delivery for patients who require or choose this option.
Postpartum Care
Immediately after birth, your baby will be placed skin-to-skin with you to foster bonding and warmth during the precious “golden hour.” Babies stay with their mothers throughout their hospital stay, and all assessments and care are done bedside, keeping you and your baby together.
For babies who need a little extra support, our team is trained in newborn resuscitation and will provide immediate care as needed. We have a pediatrician on call 24/7 and access to a Tele-NICU cart, which connects us with neonatalogists for specialized care. Babies are reunited with their mothers at the earliest moment that safety allows.
Our nurses are also equipped with postpartum care and lactation support training, and we have an IBCLC-certified lactation Consultant available five days a week. Whether you choose to breastfeed or formula feed, we provide the education and resources you need, including access to hospital-grade breast pumps.
Resources for Complications or Special Circumstances
Pregnancy and birth can sometimes bring unexpected challenges. Fairview Range is here to help through the many resources we offer families. During the prenatal period, providers and staff offer support and education for any pregnancy-related complications. Nurses and doctors have special education and training to help deal with complications before, during, and after birth.
In the case of pregnancy or infant loss, we provide compassionate support, including resources, support groups, and a memorial service held each spring. Thanks to the generosity of our community, our social workers are available both in the clinic and inpatient settings to connect you with community resources and provide care packages for families in need.
Follow-up care and Postnatal Services
Before you leave the hospital, we’ll schedule all necessary follow-up appointments. Mothers will have a six-week postpartum checkup, and babies will have a two-day weight check followed by a two-week well-child visit. All breastfeeding mothers are offered outpatient lactation appointments, which can be made prior to being discharged or after discharge as well.
In addition to these follow-up visits, our providers closely monitor for postpartum depression and connect mothers with additional resources if needed. Our goal is to ensure that you and your baby receive the care and support you need, even after you leave our facility.
